Connections
You’re not the only one with hemophilia who is facing big decisions and changes to your life in the coming months or years. Connecting with peers who are experiencing the same or similar challenges can help you find support and make new friends.
Your local hemophilia chapter and HTCs can also be great resources for getting connected to peers or mentors. Moving after graduation? Check out the local chapter or HTC in the cities you’re considering and talk to the staff there about questions and concerns you have.
You can also find great resources through the National Hemophilia Foundation (NHF). In addition to a ton of information available on the Web site, the National Youth Leadership Institute is an NHF program designed especially for young adults who want to get involved in the community. It’s a great organization to join and the current NYLI members can be great resources to you as you make decisions about your future.
NHF’s Team Hemophilia program brings youth programming to cities across the country and incorporates the excitement of IndyCar racing. NYLI members are traveling across the country to promote this program, giving you a great opportunity to talk with them face-to-face.
