Transition Ignition
Being responsible for your own healthcare is important to being successful when you move away from home. Though you may already self-infuse, there are a lot of other factors that play a role in treating your hemophilia. Its important that you and your parents discuss these factors and that you are completely comfortable taking responsibility for your own hemophilia care before you leave high school.
Transition Ignition is an interactive program designed to answer questions you may have about treatment independence and facilitate the “transition” of responsibility from your parents to you. Youll get to meet with a college-age student who just faced similar challenges and navigated through them, and youll have an open forum to ask questions and talk to your parents about concerns or feedback you might have.
Among topics covered are
- Handling treatment away from home
- Going away to college or trade school
- Career choices
- Understanding health insurance
- Communicating with healthcare providers (home healthcare)
- Planning factor needs/factor inventory
This is a great program that will help you build confidence in your treatment independence and ensure your parents understand youre ready to take on these responsibilities.
